Why buy a fireplace insert instead of a gas log?

Gas logs are realistic and provide some warmth to a room. but if you are really interested in lowering your utility bill, an airtight gas insert is the way to go. Inserts burn only about 30% of what gas logs do, and they put out much more heat. they are 70 – 80% efficient, which means that they are as efficient as your furnace. An insert can pay for itself in 5 or 6 years, and in addition, will give your fireplace a totally new finished look.
